AHEAD of the official reopening of the revamped Castle Pub in Droitwich on Monday, January 8, we went for a sneak preview of the venue.

As well as creating an additional 20 jobs alongside The Castle’s previous team, the pub will be the first in the UK to launch Greene King’s brand new concept. Seared brings drinks and dishes from all around the world to one place, closer to home.

The dishes – all freshly grilled – come from all corners of the globe, including Turkey, India, Korea, Spain and more. Drinks too have been brought in from far and wide.

From South American steak and Korean fried chicken burgers to British pub staples such as Hunter’s chicken and fish and chips, the aim is to provide something for everyone – all under one roof.

Natalia Perez, Brand Director at Greene King, said people often thought they had to travel far – such as to Birmingham – to experience different cuisines but Seared would cut those miles and provide it close to home.

And she wanted to stress that, while the new menu would provide flavours from all over the world, there was still an emphasis on keeping part of the venue as a traditional local pub where people could go for a drink with friends or watch the latest sports matches and play pool.

She showed us the new-look venue in the video below.

General manager, Rebecca Hall, said: “Following a huge appetite for global food trends over recent years, Seared will offer the chance to experience a world of flavours in the relaxed setting of a much-loved local pub.

“For our guests living in Droitwich Spa and wider Worcestershire, this gives them the opportunity to enjoy a huge range of cuisines and dishes, right on their doorstep.

“Our guests can expect vibrant interiors and globally inspired, affordable dishes that pair perfectly with new international draught lagers, cocktails and soft drinks.

“Whether you’re a returning regular or a new guest ready to discover the food and drink on offer, The Castle remains a local community pub at heart, and we’ll continue to offer a warm welcome to all, no matter the occasion.”

The Castle will officially reopen its doors at 73 Worcester Road, Droitwich Spa at 11am on Monday, January 8, where there will also be exclusive giveaways for guests to celebrate the new look.
