Unique showcase of musicians and artists at Malvern's Line Up charity festival

A NEW charity festival will launch in Malvern later in August showcasing local musical performances and arts workshops.

Organised by the Severn Arts charity in partnership with Malvern Hills District Council, the one day Line Up festival on August 27 will take place at the Malvern Cube on Albert Road North.

Visitors can also expect a host of musical performances of jazz, brass, alternative folk, punk and dance and even spoken word poetry performances from 2pm to 10.30pm.

Free family friendly arts workshops will take place from 11am to 1pm with local artist Amanda Jackson running a cyanotype workshop, where objects are assembled on pre-coated paper and exposed to sunlight to create artwork.

Another of the regions artist’s, Megan Evans will be using paint blowing to create monsters and rocket ships.

Severn Arts Music Box will also be on site, packed with digital music-making equipment including DJ decks, electronic drum machines, synthesizers, and a vocal booth for people to showcase their own talents.




Lee Farley, community arts coordinator said: ‘I’m unbelievably excited about Line Up Festival.

“I’ve been having conversations with friends and colleagues locally for many years about putting on something like this in Malvern.


“I’m so pleased it’s finally happening! Huge thanks to Malvern Hills District Council and Severn Arts for supporting this opportunity.

“We have an incredible range of acts and workshops Lined Up! From spoken word jazz poetry to a mechanical techno organ. This is a festival for adventurous, curious music lovers.

“We can’t wait to see everyone at Malvern Cube!’

Sam Underwood, frontman of ORE, who will perform at the festival, said: ‘It’s great to have an event like Line Up starting locally. ORE are delighted to have been asked to perform.

“We live locally and have played alongside the amazing artists who will be performing, but never at an event so close to home.

“Line Up is breaking new ground and bringing some of the most exciting underground artists to Malvern.’

Tickets cost £10. Proceeds from ticket sales will be re-invested into next years festival.
