Ultra marathon-man goes extra miles

A DARING Worcester man is set to tackle a series of marathons in a bid to raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice.

Luke Hamilton-Jones is aiming to amass 182 miles by taking part in three marathons and two ultra-marathons between April 3 and May 3.

The gruelling challenge will see him run to the lowest point on earth in the Dead Sea ultra-marathon before tackling marathons in Worcester, Manchester and London.

The 23-year-old, who is a building surveyor at Malcolm Hollis’ Battersea office, will complete his fund-raising efforts for St Richard’s Hospice with an ultra-marathon around the Malvern Hills.

Luke has set himself the target of collecting £2,000 for the hospice, which he said was close to his heart following the death of his father to pancreatic cancer last year.

“The staff at St Richard’s Hospice helped me and my family through a very difficult time, and their unwavering support was incredible,” he said.

“Their exceptional care meant that my father could continue to enjoy life right up until his final weeks and for that, I cannot thank them enough.

“To say these events will be challenging is an understatement, but I cannot think of a more deserving cause.”

Mark Hampson, partner at Malcolm Hollis, added: “This is an incredible feat and I know I certainly couldn’t do it.

“However, I have every faith that Luke will stand up to the challenge because of how much this cause means to him. I am sure I speak for everyone on the team here at Malcolm Hollis when I wish him the best of luck.”
