Trying to set a new rugby world record

Worcester Editorial 28th Apr, 2017   0

A GUINNESS World Record attempt at playing the world’s longest game of rugby will take place in Worcester for charity.

Organisers hope to scrum down for 31 hours of continuous rugby at Sixways Stadium on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13, where a team of 23 firefighters will take on a team of 23 members of the forces in the hope of raising £46,000 for The Fire Fighters Charity and Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

There will also be a family fun day at the stadium on the Saturday, where there will be fire engines and army vehicles on display and face painting and a bouncy castle for children to enjoy.

During the evening, there will be a Quanta charity event which will include live music, a finger buffet, a guest speaker and a charity auction.

Dave Allison, event organiser said: “It is with great pleasure that we are able to bring the chance to help an amazing group of people aiming to raise £46,000 for two brilliant charities, whilst attempting to break a Guinness World Record.

“The Fire Fighters Charity support families of injured firefighters and Scotty’s Little Soldiers provide comfort and support to children who have lost a parent who served within the armed forces.”

The event will run from 8am on Friday, May 12 to 3pm on Saturday, May 13.

Entry will be via a donation on the gate.

The Quanta charity evening will run from 7pm to midnight and cost £20 per person.
