THERE are currently delays of up to an hour-and-a-half on the northbound M5 between Droitwich and Bromsgrove.
The congestion – which led to the closure of the carriageway from Junction 5 (Droitwich) to 4A (the M42) was caused by a crash between a car and a vehicle transporting cattle which overturned.
The collision happened around 6.20am and the emergency services and National Highways attended the scene.
West Mercia Police say the carriageway – which had to be closed while the incident was dealt with – is now open but the traffic is backed up for several miles.
An ambulance crew came across the accident between junctions 5 and 4 at around 6.30am.
A second ambulance and a paramedic officer were also sent to the scene where they treated the driver of the car for injuries not believed to be serious before taking him to Alexandra Hospital for further assessment.
The driver of the van did not wish to be assessed.
