A TRIO from Birmingham have been jailed for a combined total of more than 26 years following a violent assault on Wylds Lane in November 2019.

Usman Multani, 28, of Woodthorpe Road, Birmingham, Kassim Multani, 24, of Boscombe Road, Birmingham and Shahenul Alam, 33, formerly of Ivor Road, Birmingham, were sentenced at Worcester Crown Court for causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The three men were found guilty at Worcester Crown Court in March 2022 and were sentenced on Friday (March 3)

Usman Multani was jailed for 11 years, Kaasim Multani was jailed for nine year and Alam was sentenced to six years behind bars.

The sentences are in relation to a violent attack which saw the victim attacked with a machete and a baseball bat, suffering a fractured skull, a bleed on the brain and a deep laceration close to his right eye.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham where doctors said he was very fortunate not to have sustained a more serious brain injury.

Det Chief Insp Tony Garner, said: “This was an incredibly violent assault which left the victim with serious injuries.

“I’m pleased that the case has concluded and hope that the victim can now begin to move forwards.

“Violence and the use of weapons are simply not acceptable and will not be tolerated on the streets of Worcester.  I hope today’s sentence sends a clear message to those who are involved in violence that we can and do take action.

“This was a complex investigation and I’d like to thank the members of the public who came forward following our appeal for information, as well as the team who worked tirelessly to secure the convictions.”
