A MAN has been jailed after pleading guilty to stealing more than £2,500 from gaming machines in Worcester.

Damien Rigby, of Lancaster Road, Wigan, was recently sentenced to two years and eight months in prison at Hereford Crown Court, following the theft of £2,571 from gaming machines at Tenpin Bowling in Perdiswell Park, on Tuesday, February 21.

The 31-year-old was arrested by CMPG officers a few weeks later on the M6 when the cash was found and seized from his vehicle.

After pleading guilty at Worcester Magistrates’ Court in April, he was given a 32-month custodial sentence on Thursday, June 8.

A 27-year-old woman from Wigan was also handed down a 12-month prison sentence which was suspended for 18 months in connection with the theft.

Investigating officer, PC Dave Wood, said: “This is a fantastic result and sends a clear message to criminals who travel to our force area to commit crime that it won’t be tolerated and will be dealt with strongly.”
