The Worcester Plinth is back - and this time it's moveable

A NEW ‘pop-Up’ public art display system and a new artwork were both unveiled in Worcester on Monday.

The new Worcester Plinth is a painted 10ft shipping container which the team will mount the artworks on and move around the city every 28 days.

Previously the team were putting art onto the derelict Screen House on the riverside.

The new artwork is ‘Reflected Grace’ designed and created for The Worcester Plinth by Polly Merredew.

It is a series of large, bold, geometric paintings inspired by two of Worcester’s most iconic features – the River Severn and the stained glass windows of Worcester Cathedral.

Oliver Carpenter, one of the volunteer team behind The Worcester Plinth said: “Polly’s work is really visually striking and will get the next stage of the Plinth’s story really up and running

“We are excited to be displaying new art, and to be moving it round the city – sometimes in very prominent positions, sometimes harder to find.”

The new Worcester Plinth with its solar panel lighting, is constructed on a reused shipping container, designed and painted by Alyx Robson-Glyde a final year art and design student at Heart of Worcestershire College.

‘Reflected Grace’ will be displayed in the Corn Market and will stay there for four weeks before ‘popping up’ across different sites in the city.
