The Shambles revamp plan revealed

Worcester Editorial 12th Dec, 2018   0

COUNTY chiefs have revealed a major makeover for The Shambles and Church Street will go ahead once Severn Trent have completed their mains renewal work.

The scheme is being delivered in partnership with Worcester City Council who are also jointly funding the project and aims to improve The Shambles and Church Street to deliver an attractive functional and durable area of the city centre.

Included in the scheme are plans to widen footpaths, introduce segregated loading bays, remove obstructions, plant street trees and carry out other updates to improve the overall look and feel of the two streets.

Coun Ken Pollock, cabinet member for the Economy and Infrastructure, said: “I’m delighted to announce this much needed scheme to improve two important streets that lie at the heart of Worcester.

“Both are within the Worcester Historic City Conservation Area and will complement the improvements made in other areas of the city over the last few years.”
