Teenager accused of manslaughter in Worcester canal case to appear at Crown Court

A TEENAGE boy appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court today (Wednesday) charged with manslaughter in connection to the death of Sean Stevens.

The 17 year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was remanded to appear at Worcester Crown Court next Friday, April 15.

The teenager was also charged with assaulting two police officers.

He was remanded on bail, subject to conditions including living at a named address under the supervision of the local authority. He is also forbidden from communicating directly or indirectly with certain named people.




Sean Stevens died following the incident at Bilford Top Lock on the Worcestershire and Birmingham Canal on Thursday (March 31) evening.

Police officers were called to the scene after concerns for the 17-year-old’s safety before the teenager was then taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where he later died.
