A WORCESTER youngster is delighted to have been picked as the lead role for Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section’s (WODYS) production of Les Miserables.

17-year-old Jack Giblen, of Warndon Villages, will star as Jean Valjean in the group’s adaption of the dramatic musical from Tuesday, August 2 to Saturday, August 6 at Worcester’s Swan Theatre.

The former Bishop Perowne CE College pupil is currently studying performing arts at the Heart of Worcestershire College and is hoping to go to the London College of Music or Guilford School of Acting to make a career in theatre.

“There’s something about Les Mis. It’s like a dream and I’m really happy,” said Jack.

“I’m buzzing but will probably be in floods of tears at the end. This will be my first and last show with WODYS because of the 18 years age limit, but I’m so excited,” he added.

Les Miserables’ performances will start at 7.15pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
