STAFF and residents at a Worcester care home have teamed up with Worcester Community Trust for a toy drive.
In these unprecedented times, when families are meeting more financial challenges than ever, and with Christmas fast approaching, the team at Latimer Court care home are seeking to champion the cause with their community partners.
Care home bosses said many parents and guardians would struggle to meet the demands of Christmas, particularly through the eyes and aspirations of their children this year. Having to make sacrifices, and difficult choices, many will go without.
The toy drive is asking for donations, large or small from local businesses to help them make this Christmas special for all the vulnerable families in their area.
A donation of either a toy or something suitable for mum or dad, or even something they can put into a family hamper would be amazing.
General manager Kerry Hill said: “As a care home provider in the heart of Worcester we felt this toy drive to make those less fortunate within our community smile was such a lovely appeal. We are open, and have robust Covid measures in place to accept donations.
“We want to spread the word to all who can offer support and look forward to supporting Worcester Community Trust in taking receipt and helping to distribute the gifts of kindness we hope to receive.
“Our residents and staff have offered to help wrap each item and we have made provisions to store all age categorised gifts in readiness for delivery to the Worcester Community Trusts’ designated list of recipients before Christmas.”
“Between ourselves and the Worcester Community Trust we will ensure your ‘gift or kindness’ is distributed with love prior to Christmas. If you feel you can support us we are happy to arrange collection of any items or you can simply drop any non-perishable items to our foyer.”
