TALENTED Worcester tap dancers will swap the stage for the platform to raise cash for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal.
The University of Worcester’s student Dance Society is taking part in this year’s Tapathon, which aims to have more than 10,000 dancers perform the same routine at the same time across the nation.
Seventeen members of the Saints’ Tap society will be performing at Birmingham New Street Station’s main concourse on Sunday (November 18) from midday to 2pm.
“This opportunity was a great way to be a part of something that brings the nation together whilst raising money for an amazing cause,” said student Sophie Merrill, who has organised the event.
“Our goal is to raise £500. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, we truly appreciate it. Whatever the amount, your contribution makes a huge difference to the lives of so many children.”
“We hope people will be drawn to our event as it is something different to the average fundraiser,” Sophie added.
“Tap is a style of dance that is not showcased as much as other styles, which we hope will draw in further interest to what we are doing and why we are doing it.”
