Street work ‘going well’ - The Worcester Observer

Street work ‘going well’

Worcester Editorial 15th May, 2019   0

A MAJOR revamp of a busy city shopping street is progressing well according to county highways chiefs.

Work is currently focussed on the western footway of The Shambles and includes resurfacing the footways and carriageway, introducing segregated loading bays for delivery vehicles, planting suitable trees, improving street furniture and upgrading street lighting.

Over the coming weeks, work will continue down the western footway towards Pump Street and then switch to the eastern footway and work back up The Shambles.

Coun Ken Pollock, the county council’s cabinet member for Economy and Infrastructure, said: “Work on The Shambles is progressing nicely and you can already see the difference these improvements are making.

“Once the work is complete, the area will be significantly improved, providing another example of the investments being made to improve the city and town centres across Worcestershire.”
