Stepping out to showcase dancing skills

TALENTED performing arts students from Bishop Perowne CE College took part in a European music and dance tour and showcased their talents in Germany and the Netherlands.

Having left on the Friday, the students performed their first concert on Saturday morning at the Drielanden Labyrinth in Drielandenpunt, Netherlands, which boats Europe’s largest outdoor shrub maze and marks where the countries of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands all meet.

They then travelled to Germany where they performed for the second time in the medieval town of Monschau in the afternoon.

After returning to the Netherlands, the students enjoyed a trip to Maastricht’s Blegny-Mine, a former coal mine, on the Sunday morning, where they learnt about the fascinating lives of miners and were able to see first-hand the tough conditions endured by the workers. Students then performed their final concert in the city’s centre.

As a celebration of their three successful performances, the students spent the final day of their tour at Phantasialand, a theme-park in Bruhl, Germany, before arriving home.

Bishop Perowne headteacher Mark Pollard said: “A huge well done to all students and staff who were part of the successful European dance and music tour. They all worked extremely hard on performances and were fantastic representatives of Bishop Perowne and Worcester.

“The tour enabled students to gain a real insight into the life of a touring musician or dancer and they returned with renewed vigour, which they will take into their performing arts studies at the start of the next school year.”
