Step up to join volunteer team

Worcester Editorial 26th Mar, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

TWO ACORNS Children’s Hospice shops in Worcester are urging residents to ‘get a shift on’ and join its team of volunteers.

The charity’s shops in St Peter’s and Mealcheapen Street are on the lookout for people to take on a range of vital roles, from operating tills to sorting stock and preparing window displays.

The network of Acorns shops across the West Midlands raises around £1.5million per year, which helps meet the running costs of the hospices – standing at more than £9million per year.

Lisa Jeavons, manager of the Acorns’ Mealcheapen Street shop, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills and we’ve got a wide range of roles on offer.

“We simply wouldn’t be able to continue without the support and commitment of our brilliant volunteers and we’re excited to bring on more people to join our team.”

Kevin Ives, head of retail for Acorns Children’s Hospice said: “Volunteers are absolutely vital in helping to keep our shops running and I would encourage anyone interested in applying for a position at either of these shops to get in touch.

“By joining our team you be helping to keep our retail network competitive, which in turn helps to generate invaluable funds towards the care and support of children and families.” E-mail Kevin
