St Richards Nurse rewarded for going extra mile

A NURSE on St Richards Hospice In-patient unit (IPU) has won a Cavell Star Award for “going the extra mile” in her role.

Lydia Dyson was presented with the award for the outstanding care she has given to patients and their family members as well as her colleagues.

Lydia has been with the St Richards IPU team for almost three years having initially joined the hospice as a student nurse.

She said: “I was extremely flattered to be recognised for supporting my colleagues, but I cannot take all the credit as every member of the In-patient Unit is a star.




“Everyone goes above and beyond to support each other every day. We look after each other like family.

“I am constantly in awe of the kindness, compassion and dedication shown by my colleagues, I feel very lucky to be surrounded by such special people.”


St Richards IPU team provide 24-hour care for patients tailored to each persons needs.

IPU manager Jamie Yeomans added: “Although the whole team deserves recognition for the dedication and commitment to St Richard’s, Lydia has really gone the above and beyond recently to support her colleagues.”
