GREEN-thinking is at the heart of a community festival being held in Worcester.
St Peter’s Parish Festival, in Power Park, aims to celebrate both The Big Lunch and The Great Big Green Week.
Organisers are encouraging residents to come and eat together as a community, packing a plastic-free picnic or buying from traders on site.
And the free annual community event, organised by St Peter’s Parish Council, will be serving up a host of other entertainment too thanks to grants from the ward funds of Worcestershire County Councillor for St Peter’s, Louis Stephen and City Councillor Steve Cockeram.
The Eco Zone is new for this year with a host of local environmental, sustainability and wildlife organisations as well as up-close animal experiences and competitions on a planet-friendly theme.
There will be plenty of activity and adventure including bushcraft with 1st Worcester Scouts, Aikido demonstrations, Worcester Royal Marine Cadets, Worcester City FC, Dancefit and Delta Sport Coaching.
There be a Fun Dog Show organised by Home Run Hounds, circus skills, Bike Worcester will be offering repairs, and Got2Sing Choir will be providing musical entertainment.
Stalls will be selling soap, arts, craft and cheese.
All proceeds from this year’s raffle and plant stall bargains will be donated to Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Visitors are encouraged to walk or cycle to the event, or to park at Tesco and follow signs along the pedways to Power Park.
St Peter’s Parish Councillor Dave Simmonds said: “We have packed lots more activity and entertainment into this year’s event, besides celebrating the local environment and opportunities to connect in our community. We want local residents to come and enjoy it together and be a part of St Peter’s.”
St Peter’s Parish Festival takes place on Power Park on Sunday June 8 from 12pm until 4pm.
