RAPID flow testing for people without symptoms is now available at Specsavers Worcester.
They are the first opticians in the county and one of the first in the country to offer this service.
The tests are free, easy to do and available for adults and children who are 12 years and over. The tests are self administered in the store and then the result is sent to your phone in around 30 minutes.
Around one in three people with COVID-19 have no symptoms. People who test positive have to self isolate to prevent the virus from spreading to others.
Early detection using a rapid flow test is one of the ways we can help to suppress the virus and keep ourselves and others safe as we move out of lockdown.
Dr Kathryn Cobain, director for Public Health for Worcestershire said: “We really welcome our optical practices joining our efforts in stopping the spread of coronavirus. Specsavers Worcester is the first of a number of opticians who have offered to play their part. Rapid testing is still just as important, alongside vaccination, in helping to keep ourselves and those around us safe.”
“As restrictions ease getting a regular test is one of the things we can all do, to help keep the number of cases down and make sure we continue to return to a normal way of life. We have made great progress in Worcestershire, let’s do everything we can to keep going in the right direction.”
Matthew Fern, Clinical Manager for Specsavers Worcester added: “We are very excited to be the first optical practice in Worcestershire to offer rapid flow testing. It’s great to be able to support our customers and local community to keep themselves safe and well. We are all looking forward to more restrictions easing and life getting back to normal and we are very happy to be doing our bit to achieve this.”
