School chiefs call for residents to Eat With Your Street

Worcester Editorial 30th Mar, 2020   0

COMMUNITY-MINDED school staff have called on Worcester residents to ‘Eat With Your Street’ to build on the success of the phenomenal NHS Clap for Your Carers event.

Staff from The River School hope the nationwide scheme will take off in the city and see local residents take their evening meal to a window, balcony or front door and share a meal together for six minutes from 6pm tomorrow (Tuesday).

Organisers hope the idea will build on the sense of solidarity fostered by the phenomenal ‘Clap for Your Carers’ celebration of all of those working in the NHS last Thursday (March 26) where thousands took to their front doors and windows to salute those tackling the COVID-19 virus in our hospitals.

Headteacher Adrian Parsonage said: “The school community would like to see local residents eating their meals at their windows/ balconies/doors, while still staying indoors.”
