Sanctuary takes Gold for staff investment

SANCTUARY Housing has been awarded one of the highest levels of accreditation for investment in its staff.

The national housing provider, which is based in Worcester, has secured the Investors in People (IiP) Gold standard following a robust evaluation during which staff were interviewed by an independent assessor.

Sanctuary’s award recognises both the way employees are developed within the not-for-profit organisation and its good management practices.

The IiP assessor said Sanctuary ‘had made significant improvements since the last assessment, providing greater consistency in how people are managed and developed’ as well as noting ‘people feel that their contributions are listened to and valued’.

Transparency and visibility in leadership, team spirit, pride in delivering good services for customers and access to learning and development opportunities were among Sanctuary’s strengths identified by the assessment.

Employees responded quickly to the Covid-19 pandemic, the assessment noted, and measures had been put in place for increased flexibility around working and team communications.

Simon Clark, group director – Housing said: “It is thanks to the commitment of our employees, particularly during this period of unprecedented challenges, that we have been able to gain the Gold standard.

“Colleagues felt they live our values and are proud in the work they do to support our customers.”
