Sanctuary Group up for award

Worcester Editorial 6th Sep, 2018   0

A CITY social housing provider has been recognised for the success of its apprenticeship programme with a shortlisting for a top award.

The Sanctuary Group has been nominated for the Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year (more than 250 employees) honour at the 2018 Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards.

Sanctuary’s national apprenticeship programme has supported around 1,400 young people into work over the past decade by providing placements in a variety of its business areas.

These include finance, IT, housing, business and administration, horticulture and health and social care.

As well as gaining valuable experience in the workplace, apprentices can enhance their skills further by studying for practical qualifications alongside their day-to-day role.

A number of apprentices at the group have been recognised for their achievements to date, including finance apprentice Ben Hyde being named the overall Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year in 2017 and Intermediate Level Apprentice of the Year.

This year’s winners will be revealed at a ceremony, hosted by TV presenter Angellica Bell, at West Midland Safari Park in Bewdley on Thursday, November 15.

Nicole Seymour, Sanctuary’s Group Director, Corporate Services, said: “We are proud to have supported so many young people as they begin their careers and this nomination is further testament to that commitment.

“As a major local and national employer, we are able to provide apprentices with invaluable experience which benefits both their future development and strengthens our organisation.”
