A WORCESTER housing provider has donated a laptop to a city disability charity to help it deliver important services remotely during the coronavirus pandemic.
Worcester Snoezelen offers multi-sensory leisure therapy opportunities to people of all ages who have learning disabilities and additional needs.
Many of its service users are vulnerable and currently unable to visit its centre in St John’s to access support in person.
Sanctuary Group, a leading provider of housing and care based in Castle Street, worked with its supplier OCM to provide the charity with a laptop.
This has enabled Worcester Snoezelen to restart its interactive music sessions over the internet, so people can take part and enjoy playing instruments and singing along with others from their own homes.
Joe Leighton, Sanctuary’s Community Investment Officer, said: “We have been keeping in close contact with our partners in the local community to find out the challenges they are facing and how we can support them during this difficult time.
“Worcester Snoezelen is a fantastic charity providing such valuable support for people with disabilities and their families and I’m delighted that we were able to help.”
Steven Wattison, Music Coordinator at Worcester Snoezelen, said: “A massive thank you to Sanctuary for supplying the laptop so we can deliver online music sessions.
“We have been running them for a couple of weeks now and they are proving a great success.”
Worcester Snoezelen is currently undertaking a phased reopening of its services, focusing on those that can be delivered safely under current guidelines.
