A WORCESTER hair and beauty salon has enjoyed its first busy festive period after property agents John Truslove helped overcome months of delays finding new premises.
Gizem Sydney, a 29-year-old hairdresser, had spent months in a fruitless attempt to secure a home for her new salon, called Tone.
By chance she spotted an online listing for the former Umberto Giannini premises in Pump Street, in the city’s historic pedestrianised shopping centre, leading Gizem to the agents, John Truslove, and joint managing director Ben Truslove.
“We needed to be in and ready for Christmas because it’s our busiest time of year, but our previous attempts to secure premises had just taken four or five months and been very frustrating,” said Gizem.
Gizem was able to secure a nine-year lease on the 2,130 sq ft premises at 22-24 Pump Street, just around the corner from Worcester’s Shambles.
Gizem, with 14 years’ experience in the hair and beauty industry, was able to move in by October and opened up a month later after some intensive work redecorating and equipping the premises.
“The salon had been empty since Umberto Giannini closed in 2019, but it was a very popular salon for nearly two decades, so we have had a lot of people coming in who are delighted to see the premises open again,” she said.
“They are very spacious so we have lots of room for our team of six here at Tone and we will be aiming to expand during this year.
“It’s all been a bit hectic but so worth it. We were really busy over Christmas which has given the business the best start possible.”
Ben said: “We are pleased to have completed this latest deal in Worcester, and we were delighted to be able to help Gizem get her Tone salon open in rapid time.
“We appreciate the need for speed with many new businesses keen to get themselves established.
“We worked closely with the Giannini family, who still own the premises, to help them secure an excellent tenant for the salon premises in Pump Street and it is good to see them back in commercial use.”
