Running is free with the Wolves

A WORCESTER jogging group has teamed up with the Worcester Wolves to launch a free fitness programme in the city.

Black Pear Joggers will start the ‘Running with the Wolves’ programme – organised by The Sport Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire – at the University of Worcester’s Riverside building on Tuesday (October 20) to Tuesday December, 1.

The aim is to help joggers take their running to the next level and progress from 5k to 10k through highlighting the importance of fitness, and how professional athletes like the Wolves take running seriously.

Mike Lane, Chairman of the Black Pear Joggers said: “We have an ever growing club which has just passed 400 members and this programme gives us a great opportunity to carry on expanding our group.

“Using the Riverside building as our starting point will hopefully appeal to city residents as it’s right on their doorstep, whereas our other starting point in Perdiswell is slightly further afield.”

Mick Donovan, director of the Worcester Wolves, said: “The Running with the Wolves programme is one of the most exciting projects we have been involved in as a basketball club.

“To be able to motivate as many people as possible to engage in meaningful exercise should be a priority for all sports clubs.

“We are delighted to be associated with this project and hope to see many people from Worcester involved.”

The programme runs every Tuesday from 7pm.
