Running in the pink

MORE than 3,000 women, men and children gathered at a packed Worcester Racecourse to boost funds for a cancer charity.

The racecourse was covered in a sea of pink as thousands of people took part in this year’s spectacular Race for Life events to help raise around £143,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The weekend included a muddy obstacle course on Saturday, which left partakers covered in mud after scrambling over equipment and crawling through mud pits. This was followed by a 5K and a 10K run on the Sunday.

Marie Tyrrell, co-founder of Happy Fitness Ltd, attended on Sunday with more than 30 other happy feet fitness members.

Together they had fund-raised more than £100 towards Cancer Research UK to help contribute research into all 200 types of cancer. By using the their couch to 5K course, some of the members were able to complete their first ever 5K or 10K.

Altogether, family, friends and supporters cheered and enjoyed the atmosphere at Pitchcroft in Grandstand Road.
