Royalty visits Faithful City to open Worcester University building

Worcester Editorial 29th Apr, 2024   0

ROYALTY was once again visiting Worcester just weeks after the visit of Queen Camilla as Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, officially opened the University’s Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Building.

The Duke, who is the Chancellor of the University of Worcester, joined staff, students and local dignitaries as he was shown around the new facility.

His Royal Highness was also given demonstrations by students of various medical disciplines.

The Duke unveiled a plaque and delivered a speech in which he praised the work of university staff in bringing the facility to Worcester.

The building was opened last year and acts as a hub to train future generations of doctors, nurses and paramedics.

It was named after Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, the first woman to qualify as a physician and surgeon in the UK.
