Rising stage stars impress audition panel

Worcester Editorial 4th Nov, 2016   0

YOUNGSTERS across Worcester have successfully auditioned to get into a city-based theatrical school ahead of its 2017 programme.

Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section (WODYS) recently welcomed 13 new members aged eight to 18, from a group of more than 40 boys and girls who auditioned.

The new members will now face another audition in the New Year, along with the other 50 current WODYS members, for roles in next year’s musical ‘Whistle Down The Wind’, which will be staged at the Swan Theatre in August.

David Humphries, chairman and producer of WODYS, said: “The audition panel was impressed by the standard across the complete age range and I want to thank everyone for auditioning.

“I’m really sorry we couldn’t take any more, but we’re unfortunately limited as to how many new members we can accept each year, as we can only accommodate a certain number of youngsters safely on stage.

“We hope the people who were unsuccessful this year will join our academy WODAC, where they will receive tuition in singing, dancing and drama.”
