A MOTORCYCLIST remains in hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a crash on the M5 between Worcester and Droitwich.

The woman was airlifted to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital after the multiple-vehicle collision near Oddingley between Junction 6 and 5 on Friday evening (June 25)

Involved in the crash were a BMW, a Citoren and a Suzuki motorbike.

An ambulance, a paramedic officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car from Worcester and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman was on the carriageway with serious multiple injuries.

She was treated at the scene, before the air ambulance, which had initially landed in a field next to the motorway was repositioned onto the northbound carriageway.

Medics were on standby at the QE’s major trauma centre when the woman arrived and she is receiving ongoing treatment in hospital for her lifechanging injuries.

No others were injured in the crash.

Both carriageways were closed for a time and the northbound one was shut for several hours while police carried out their extensive investigation.

It finally reopened around 11.15pm.

West Mercia Police has urged witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage of the crash between 5.20pm and 5.40pm on Friday night to call officers on 101.
