RGS Worcester announced as Worcester Warriors' education partner

A PARTNERSHIP between the oldest school in Worcestershire and its professional rugby team is all sewn up.

RGS Worcester has been announced as Worcester Warriors Education Partner on their return this season.

And as part of the partnership, the RGS Worcester name will be displayed on the Worcester Warriors’ playing shirts.

The partnership also represents a significant opportunity to strengthen ties between the two institutions and their deep roots in the local community.

Founded in circa 685, RGS Worcester is the sixth oldest school in the world and a member of The RGS Worcester Family of Schools. Providing education for children aged two to 18, sport plays a central role in the school’s ethos, with pupils encouraged to participate at every level from high-level elite performance to inclusive, lifelong engagement.

Pupils are coached by former international players and there are 23 sports on offer at the school. In the last three years, 24 pupils have gone on to achieve international honours in ten different sports, including earning England and Scotland international rugby caps.

The partnership with Worcester Warriors will offer RGS pupils access to specialist coaching, mentoring and development opportunities, as well as direct interaction with players and staff from the Warriors squad.

The collaboration also extends beyond the school gates. RGS Worcester is committed to working in partnership with local schools and clubs to increase access to high-quality sports experiences for young people throughout the county. The RGS Partnership Programme sees engagement with over 40 local schools, benefiting well over 1,000 children from across Worcestershire each year.

Headmaster John Pitt said: “We are delighted to be named the official Education Partner of Worcester Warriors. This exciting partnership brings together two organisations that care deeply about our local community and who believe in the transformative power of sport for young people. We look forward to working closely with the Warriors and further with the local community and we are all very excited here. We wish the Worcester Warriors every success for the season ahead.”
