A SHOW of solidarity with the arts was on offer as RGS Worcester part in the #lightitinred campaign.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many people globally, and while the UK begins to return to normal operations, the entertainment industry is still unsure of its reopening schedule.
The Arts at RGS Worcester has been growing from strength to strength both with academic and co-curricular productions, outreach, national and international trips, theatre visits and work with practitioners.
With the lockdown resulting in many postponed performances, the school missed giving live performances of Macbeth, Bugsy Malone, a Cathedral concert and a Creative Arts Evening, among many other events.
The school has been using virtual technology to allow their pupils to rehearse and perform to family, friends and the public, but this is not the same as a live performance in a theatre or a venue such as Worcester Cathedral.
Jilly Witcomb, director of drama, RGS Worcester said: “The performances we attend, the professionals we work with and the assistance of our alumni within the performing arts, give our students invaluable insight into the profession.
“We could not give such an enlightening education without them, so we are very proud to stand alongside them in support of their cause.”
