POLICE are warning residents to keep their lights on after two unoccupied houses were burgled in Worcester.
The warning comes after offenders targeted houses in Arboretum and Claines, searching for homes that appear empty.
At 9am on Monday, September 12, two men wearing dark clothes broke into a house on Northwick Road through the first floor rear window but nothing was stolen.
Before the burglary, a large, blue van was seen driving slowly along the road, paying particular attention to the houses.
Later that evening, a house on Philip Road was broken into and a kitchen window was forced open, items of jewellery were taken.
With the nights drawing in, police are asking residents to review their home security and to set timer lights to come on.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police, said: “A burglar alarm will discourage burglars and gives increased security when homes are unoccupied. Make sure you set your burglar alarm if you have one.
“Security lighting can be used to make offenders feel vulnerable and observed. Reduce your chances of becoming a victim of burglary.”
