Residents reminded to call 101 in non-emergency crimes

Worcester Editorial 5th Oct, 2018   0

POLICE have reminded Worcester and Malvern residents to call 101 instead of 999 to report less urgent crime, historic incidents or general enquiries.

Calls to 101 should be made to report something which does not require an immediate police response.

Examples include discovering a car has been stolen, a shed has been broken into, suspected drug use or dealing, giving police information about suspicious activity in the area or speaking to a PCSO.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “We understand how upsetting a crime or anti-social incident might be, but please help us keep the 999 lines free for emergencies.”
