Reservist helps RAF celebrate centenary year

TWO Worcester Bosch employees took part in the RAF’s centenary year celebrations with a reception at the House of Commons.

Jon Buckle, who is part of the research and development team at Worcester Bosch, has been an RAF Reservist for the past 20 years and was invited to the prestigious event in thanks of his work with the Reserves.

Based at RAF Brize Norton, Jon has been assisting with the loading and unloading of the RAF’s Air Transport fleet for more than two decades and has provided support in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mr Buckle was joined by Neil Schofield, head of external affairs at Worcester Bosch, who has been involved in ensuring the company provides the right support to allow him to carry out both his research and Reserves roles.

The event comprised a tour of the House of Commons and Lords, and a visit to the viewing chamber overlooking the Commons chamber to see a live parliamentary debate and hear an inspiring speech from Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson.

“It is fantastic that Worcester Bosch has been able to support me in my role in the RAF Reserves, which is something I feel particularly passionate about,” said Mr Buckle. “The fact that the company holds the Silver Award is testament to the commitment it has made to assisting the Armed Forces community.”

Mr Schofield added: “Jon’s dedication to both his role in the RAF Reserves and also at Worcester Bosch, are second to none, so we are delighted to be able to offer the support needed.

“The visit to the House of Commons reiterated just how important the Reserves are to the Armed Forces community and it was a privilege to be able to play a part in this.”
