THOUSANDS of real ale and cider enthusiasts are set to flock to Pitchcroft racecourse for this year’s Worcester Beer Festival.

The event, which runs from tomorrow (Thursday) until Saturday (August 6), will see a range of more than 170 beers, 100 ciders and perrys as well as fruit and grape wines on offer for drinkers to enjoy.

The Worcester CAMRA festival is one of the biggest outdoor real ale, cider and perry festivals in the country, and last year saw 12,500 people come along to enjoy a few pints, sit out in the sun and listen to the bands.

Organisers will again be ensuring a large selection of beers will still be available on the Saturday of the event

Due to popular demand the festival will be having several food outlets including Flaming Cactus dishing up Mexican food, including vegetarian food, a burger stall and kebab van.

Evesham based Starchip Enterprise will be beaming into the festival to serve out of this world fish and chips.

Once again the bars will not accept cash with visitors asked to convert money to Strike cards to use at the bars.

Live bands including Tinks, Jay & Eli, Daddies Girls, Mike Skilbeck, Underground Ocean, Come Together, Davey Rocks, Beauty and the Beast, Paul Winstanley, The Outcast and Fury will all be taking to the stage during the festival.

Opening hours and attendance numbers have been cut for each of the days to ensure there is plenty of beer available on all three days.

Doors will open at 5pm on Thursday, while the final two days will take place from midday until 11pm on Friday and midday to 10pm on Saturday.

Tickets for Thursday and Friday are £9 and £6 for Saturday. Session numbers will be limited on Friday which is advance tickets with none available on the gate.

CAMRA members receive £2 of drink tokens at the token desk on production of a valid membership card and all admission prices include a souvenir glass and programme.
