A WORCESTER choir have helped raised more than £7,000 for a Worcestershire breast cancer charity.

Got 2 Sing’s Worcester Choir joined its sister Worcestershire choirs to perform a special celebratory concert at Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

The 10th anniversary concert raised £7,276 for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven in the process.

Fourteen Got 2 Sing choirs, including their Youth Choir, with more than 700 members in total, took to the stage to deliver a concert of contemporary and classic songs from a ‘Sound of Music’ medley and The Greatest Showman’s ‘From Now On’ to Elton John’s classic ‘I’m Still Standing and Queen’s unforgettable ‘Don’t Stop Me Now.’

Choir leader Cathy Hart was overjoyed with outcome and said the group had been overwhelmed with messages praising the professionalism of the performance.

“The fact that we have several choir members who have been affected by breast cancer in some way made it such a relevant charity for us to support,” she said

“It was an amazing experience for us all and I would like to thank everyone for their generosity in supporting this fantastic cause

Alexandra Craigie, charity director of Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, said: “We would like to thank Got 2 Sing so much for choosing Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven Charity as the beneficiary for their anniversary concert – we were absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them and the concert was just magical.
