BIRMINGHAM New Street has been evacuated while British Transport Police inspect a suspicious item found on a platform.
Disruption is expected for the remainder of the afternoon and into the evening.
West Midlands Railway confirmed trains will return to the nearest alternative station where possible.
All valid rail tickets will be accepted on local National Express West Midlands bus routes.
Road transport has been requested between Coventry and Northampton and Redditch and Bromsgrove to Longbridge.
West Midlands Ambulance service crews are working with West Midlands Police, the Birmingham British Transport police and West Midlands Fire service.
