Put foot forward for Malvern charity trek to support Worcester hospice

Worcester Editorial 24th Apr, 2024   0

KIND-hearted trekkers are being invited to put their best foot forward and stride out on the Malvern Hills as part of St Richard’s Hospice’s fund-raising challenge.

The annual Malvern Hills Walk will take place on Saturday, May 11, with two, five and 11-mile routes available.

The walk has been a tradition for the Worcester Hospice since it was founded in 1984.

Both the two and five-mile walks are circular, starting from 10am at Black Hills Car Park.

The 11-mile walk will see trekkers brave the length of the hills from Chase End.

Those walking the 11-mile route will be transported to the start by coach, leaving from North Quarry Car Park at 8am.

Anyone who raises more than £75 through sponsorship by Monday, May 6 will receive a pair of luxury Bamboo walking socks at the finish line.

Alison Parkes, Fundraiser at St Richard’s, said: “We are very much looking forward to this year’s Malvern Hills Walk, as it’s not only a fantastic way to raise funds for our care but it also marks a milestone in our hospice history.

“Walkers are treated to stunning views across the surrounding countryside and a real sense of achievement, whichever route they choose.

“There’s always a great atmosphere on the day, and we’ll be cheering everyone on as they go.

“This event is very much part of who we are at St Richard’s, and we hope to see as many people join us on the day as possible.”

St Richard’s Hospice cares for adults with a serious progressive illness, improving their quality of life from diagnosis, during treatment to their last days, as well as supporting their loved ones.
