A GROUP of cool-headed children came to the rescue at a city school as they showed off their life-saving skills.
Red Hill CE Primary invited Mark Gillett, who runs his own first aid training business called Sabre Skills and Training, to teach Year Five pupils how to contact help in an emergency and how to give basic first aid.
After learning the danger, response, airways, breathing and circulation (DRABC) rule, pupils applied their skills to a dummy as they practised chest compressing.
It follows a visit by St John’s Ambulance earlier this year where children found out how to make slings and bandages.
Year Five pupil Freya said: “It was fun and we learned a lot. The instructor was very good at explaining how to help someone in a danger.”
