Pub pours in Macmillan cash

A POPULAR Worcester pub helped raise more than £90,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of a fun week of fund-raising.

The Glovers Needle recently raised £795 towards the staggering £95,000 raised by all the Hungry Horse chains across the UK for the cancer charity, as part of the ‘world’s biggest coffee morning’ event on Friday September, 25.

The team at the Windermere Drive pub showed their generosity through a week of fun activities in the build-up to its family fun day on Saturday September, 26, where fire engines, a bouncy castle, a bungee run and a sponsored wax and shave drew in the much needed funds.

A raffle was also held at the event which included a top prize of four tickets to a Worcester Warriors rugby match, kindly donated by the club.

It was the first major fund-raiser held at the pub since Jayne Brookes became general manager in July.

Mrs Brookes said: “It was great we raised as much as we did and contributed towards the amazing amount of money raised overall for Macmillan Cancer Support by Hungry Horse.

“I would like to thank everyone who came down to show their kind support and give so generously.”
