YOUNGSTERS at a Worcester school had fun turning their favourite fruit into juice.
Children at Perry Wood Primary and Nursery School had a special visit from environmental organisation Transition Worcester last Wednesday (October 21), where they got the chance to have a go at apple pressing.
Orchard working volunteer’s Arthur Rowe and Tony Kennell showed the students how to use the machinery and used the fun event to teach them about the benefits of fruit and healthy living.
Headteacher Tracy Kelly-Freer said: “Perry Wood is proud to hold an Eco Schools Green Flag award and this event is part of our work on healthy living.
“We encourage our children to question the world around them and to try new experiences.
“They learnt first hand exactly how something regularly bought in a supermarket can be produced using traditional methods.
“They and their families also joined together to collect fruit that might otherwise have gone to waste.
“This was a genuine celebration of nature’s harvest, relevant to our neighbourhood.”
