Police issue vehicle security warning after spate of thefts across south Worcestershire

Sonny Rackham 2nd Oct, 2025   0

MOTORISTS in south Worcestershire are being advised of crime prevention measures to help prevent their vehicles being stolen in the wake of a recent swathe of targeted thefts.

The advice follows a spate of thefts of pick-uptrucks recently, but police say the tips are appropriate for all vehicle owners.

Detective Constable Lee Beckett from our Field Intelligence team said: “We would like to urge motorists to take some extra precautions to protect their vehicles following this recent spate.

“Many of these tips are inexpensive and could make the difference between your vehicle being targeted by criminals or not.”

West Mercia Police is urging motorists to keep their keys in a ‘Faraday’ pouch which prevents relay theft by blocking invasive signals which allow thieves to open your vehicle remotely.

Motorists are also encouraged to fit a GPS tracker to their vehicle, install security measures at home including lights outside and CCTV. Other advice includes checking your vehicle and its windows are locked and secure, storing your vehicle in a garage if possible or using alternative security measures such as steering locks.
