Police appeal for witnesses following dramatic A449 lorry crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward who may have seen yesterday’s (Tuesday) dramatic crash between two lorries on the A449 in Worcester.

The incident happened at about 11.30am on the eastbound carriageway of the A449 between the B4850 Blackpole Road and the M5.

Two lorries, a white Scania HGV and a white Mercedes HGV, were involved in the crash, with the Mercedes lorry and its cargo of wood chippings catching fire.

One man, the driver of the Mercedes HGV, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with head and chest injuries, whilst the driver of the Scania lorry was unhurt.




West Mercia Police would now like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash as their investigation into how it happened begins.

Officers are keen to speak to the driver of a maroon vehicle which was seen in the area at the time as they may have important information about the crash.


Anyone who saw the incident or has information which may help officers with their investigation are urged to call police on 101, quoting incident number 248s of Tuesday, August 16.
