Police and Crime Commissioner wants the public's advice on new West Mercia crime plan

Worcester Editorial 17th Jun, 2024   0

THE Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for West Mercia, John Campion, is inviting the public to participate in a critical discussion aimed at shaping the region’s crime plan for the next four years.

This scheme, known as the ‘Big Conversation,’ seeks to gather public input on key issues that matter to the community, focusing on crime reduction, community policing, and victim support.

The PCC is urging residents to share their thoughts, feelings, and priorities, which will be instrumental in informing a comprehensive dialogue with West Mercia’s chief constable Alex Murray.

The outcomes of this conversation will be accessible on the PCC’s website and social media channels.

These contributions from the public will play a crucial role in shaping the PCC’s police and crime plan.

This strategic document will outline the primary areas of focus and action for the PCC over the next four years.

Mr Campion said: “As the voice of the public in policing, this is your chance to raise any concerns, and for them to be acted upon at the highest level.

“During my election campaign I set out clear pledges.

“I want to see West Mercia Police continue to drive down levels of crime, putting victims and survivors first and being evermore visible and accessible.

“This extends beyond policing alone, and there is some fantastic work going on across a range of commissioned services.

“By joining the big conversation, you can help shape how all of this will look.

“I look forward to hearing your views.”

Residents can share their policing priorities by messaging on social media platforms such as Facebook, X, and Instagram (@WestMerciaPCC) or by emailing [email protected] before Tuesday, June 25.
