A RENOWNED poet visited a Worcester school to inspire students to take part in a national competition.
Bishop Perowne CE College welcomed Worcestershire Poet Laureate, Heather Wastie, to the school on Thursday October, 22, to hold a poetry masterclass with Year 7 and 8 students who are part of the school’s new endeavour programme.
During the masterclass, Heather gave an inspiring talk about her work, before reading some of her poetry and answering pupils’ questions.
The event was designed to help students create lipogram poems which will be entered into the national Young Writers Poetry Trials competition.
Headteacher, Mark Pollard said: “We’d like to thank Heather for holding a poetry masterclass with our students.
“By inviting people like Heather who are extremely successful in their profession to talk to our students, really helps inspire them.
“Heather certainly had all the students engaged and captivated by her poetry.”
