Play Street Kits to help get Worcester youngsters kitted out for playing

PLAY Street Kits are now available for Worcester families to borrow.

The kits, made available by Play Worcester with funding from Worcestershire Public Health, are designed to help residents run their own Play Street sessions, where roads are temporarily closed to traffic so children can play safely right outside their front doors. Each kit includes skipping ropes, chalk, scooter boards, beanbags, and other items, as well as simple guidance to help neighbours get started.

Play Worcester chairperson Nicola Stobbs said: “Play Streets are joyful, low‑cost and community‑powered. These kits remove barriers and make it easier for any street to give it a go. We’re so grateful to Worcestershire Public Health for believing in this work.

“Our streets should feel like places where children belong, not just spaces for cars. Play Streets give children the freedom to be active, creative and confident right outside their homes – and they help neighbours build the kind of connections that make communities stronger. These kits will make it easier than ever for residents to bring that joy and energy to their own streets.”
