FAMILIES celebrated Easter by joining in with a city park’s fun-filled Eggstravaganza.

The Friends of Fort Royal Park hosted the event with Worcester City Council on Monday (April 6) and welcomed 60 children with their parents. The day began with a treasure hunt followed by a hard boiled egg rolling contest as well as an array of competitions and fun with giant puppets.

They also held an Easter bonnet competition where participants could bring their own creations from home or could take part in the Commandery’s workshops where they were helped to design their colourful Easter themed hats.

Stafani Webb, eight-years-old, won the over all competition and Hollyanna Hopkins, seven-years-old, and Thom Bryan, four-years-old, won in their categories for their handmade bonnets.

Lynn Denham, chair of Friend of Fort Royal Park, said: “It was very successful, lots of families came and had fun in the park in the glorious sunshine.

“They enjoyed our mystery Easter trail round the park and we gave out 60 prizes for that.

“We asked the children to bring a hard boiled egg with their name written on it and they rolled it down our hill and we gave a prize to whose egg rolled the furthest.”

The Friends of Fort Royal Park in partnership with the city council and The Commandery hold the event every year and plan to carry on.

Mrs Denham said: “It has become a fixed event in the calender.”
