FAMILIES were out in force for the second DinesFest on a housing estate in Worcester.
The festival was staged for the first time in 2024 to mark 70 years of Dines Green and it proved such a hit that organisers decided to put it on again this year.
It was held at Honeywell Primary School in Tudor Way on Saturday (September 27). Entry was free and the costs of rides and refreshments were kept to a minimum, thanks to funding from ward councillors Dr Matt Lamb, Robyn Norfolk and Richard Udall.
There was live entertainment, bouncy castles, face painting, crafts, a grand tombola and raffle, a football tournament, BBQ and more.
DinesFest’s newly christened mascot Sidney was also on hand to meet everyone.
Dinesfest’s secretary Jess Hunt paid tribute to the school’s community spirit.
She said: “This event could not have been as accessible and inclusive as it was without the cooperation of school staff and the Mercian Academy Trust.
“The huge playground and playing field at the back provided a perfect space for Dinesfest’s pony rides as well as sports, living history and theatre performers, shopping, food and drink.”
Volunteer Kevin Donoher added: “it’s good to see something happening that put smiles on so many faces. Dinesfest got the community buzzing and the volunteers who live here did an amazing job this time. I can’t wait for the Christmas one now.”
