Pears players among those present for the Santa Dash

WORCESTERSHIRE’s cricketers will be among those limbering up for the third St Richard’s Hospice Santa Dash along the River Severn

This year’s charity extravaganza will take place on Sunday, December 12 and will see participants take on a two-mile, family-friendly jog or walk.

The event will begin with a team warm up at the starting point of Worcestershire County Cricket Club on New Road before following the river to Diglis before finishing at South Quay where there will be festive refreshments.

Sofia Gunster, hospice fund-raiser, said: “The Santa Dash is a really fun way to get into the festive spirit, while helping raise much needed funds for our care at the same time.

“Leading this year’s dash are players from Worcestershire County Cricket Club, and we’re so excited to have their support. They’ll be helping us with the warm up too!

“Anyone is welcome to take part and walk, jog, or run this beautiful route along the riverside. We ho ho hope to see you there!”

Santas who raise more than £40 in sponsorship for St Richard’s Hospice will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 voucher for Ego at Manor Farm, Worcester.

Each participant, except those under three, will get a free Santa suit to wear on the day.

The hospice last held the event in 2019, which saw 217 people take part and raise more than £7,000 towards the charity’s care to patients, families and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

Tickets are £15 for adults aged 16 and over, and £10 for children aged three to 16. Under threes go free.

Tickets can be pre-booked via the hospice’s website, or bought on the day for an additional £5 per person.
