Part of Southern Link Road to close overnight next week

ONE OF the city’s busiest roads is set to close overnight next week as work to improve the Southern Link Road steps up a gear.

The A4440 between the Norton roundabout and Ketch roundabout will be shut from 8pm until 6am for five consecutive nights from next Monday (November 17) until Friday (November 21).

The closure will allow essential work to take place on the current widening of the Ketch roundabout ahead of a planned completion date next summer.

Coun Simon Geraghty, Worcestershire County Council’s deputy leader, said the overnight closures were designed to keep disruption to a minimum.

“These late night works are necessary to carry out works that would otherwise cause significant traffic delays in the day during peak hours,” he said.

“The work on the Ketch roundabout and the Southern Link Road are progressing well and we are trying to ensure that any disruption to traffic and road users is kept to a minimum.”

The widening of the Ketch roundabout is one of the first stages of a multi-million pound project which will eventually see the whole of the Southern Link Road dualled.
